Thin Lizzy Rockpalast 1981

Thin Lizzy are an Irish hard rock band who formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1969. The two founding members, drummer Brian Downey and bass guitarist/vocalist Phil Lynott met each other while still in school. Lynott, with an engaging and charismatic personality, took up the role of frontman  and speaker for the band and led them throughout their recording career of thirteen studio albums. Thin Lizzy are best known for their songs "Whiskey in the Jar", "Jailbreak" and "The Boys Are Back in Town", all major international hits still played regularly on hard rock and classic rock radio stations. After Lynott died, various incarnations of the band have emerged over the years culminating in the most stable line-up based around guitarists Scott Gorham and John Sykes, however Sykes left the band in June 2009.

Double Trouble Live At The El Mocambo

Live At The El Mocambo captures a young Stevie Ray Vaughan on the verge of taking the world by storm. His debut album Texas Flood and just been released to critical and popular acclaim, and word was spreading that we had ourselves a new blues/rock legend in the making. This performance was recorded in 1983, at a small Toronto club called the El Mocambo. Stevie and his now legendary backing band Double Trouble could barely fit on the tiny stage, the lighting was minimal, the sound was raw, but the performance was huge.

Grand Funk Railroad Live in LA 1974

Filmed before a live audience (just had to say that) in Los Angeles in 1974 this show is absolutely killer.  Mark Farner, Don Brewer, Mel Schachter and Craig Frost absolutely tear down the Forum with this show.  For those of you not familiar with Grand Funk Railroad they were a garage band from Flint Michigan who wound up at the Atlanta Pop Festival in 1969 and absolutely rocked the place.

Despite having a thieving manager, who sued them for $57 million they went on to have five platinum and four gold albums.  Then after disbanding and taking up seemingly normal lives and the IRS stepped in and wanted to finish the job that they're thieving manager started.

They were truly an American band, and this show brings you right back to 1974.

The Midnight Special 1979

During the 70's and early 80's a gentleman by the name of Burt Sugarman produced a revolutionary television show for late night viewers on NBC. The show was called The Midnight Special and it was a ninety minute show that showcased some of the world’s most popular musical acts. This show differed from many of its rivals as the featured musical artists performed live as apposed to lip synching to prerecorded music. If you are a fan of the music that was around at this time or if you remember the show and would like the chance to see some of the performances again then you can do so by taking a look at what is on offer at the web address of www.midnightspecial.com. This web site offers its visitors the chance to purchase a DVD that shows some of the Midnight Specials best guest performing, these include Elton John, Roy Orbison, Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie and more.

Here is what I've collected from the year 1979.  There is a lot missing that I'm aware of, but hopefully I'll be able to get it all filled out.
